Morgan Mclean, LCSW, Founder of As You Are Therapy Group LLC

Morgan Chaffins, LCSW

Hi, I'm Morgan! 

I’m passionate about creating a safe, supportive, and accepting space where you can be exactly as you are. Therapy should be a place where you can make sense of your story, find your footing, and move toward the life you want.


Professional Background

  • Education: Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Social Work from the University of Kentucky
  • Certifications: Child Welfare & Substance Use Disorder
  • Clinical Approach:
    • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
    • Motivational Interviewing (MI)
    • Person-Centered Therapy
    • DBT-informed techniques
    • Psychoeducation

I integrate these methods into individual therapy for children, teens, and adults, always meeting each client where they are.

Teaching & Mentorship:

  • Part-time instructor at the University of Kentucky College of Social Work
  • Mentor to undergraduate and graduate social work students
  • Facilitator of psychoeducation classes for children, teens, and adults


How I Work

My philosophy is simple: I’m here to meet you where you are, support you, and help you work toward the changes you want to see in your life.

In sessions, clients often describe me as validating yet direct, offering honest feedback in a way that feels supportive, not judgmental.

During our first session, I’ll guide you through the therapy process, focusing on:

  • Understanding your needs, goals, and hopes
  • Exploring challenges like anxiety, depression, identity struggles, or substance use recovery


About Me

Outside of the therapy room, I spend my days with my partner, children, and our dogs. We love to travel, explore the outdoors, and enjoy quality family time.

I care deeply about showing up fully for my clients, which is why I prioritize self-care and personal growth, so I can pour into others from a full cup.
